Rcsb Rear End Comes Around Easy!

got 5" of snow and was drivin in 2wd playing around a bit. WOW these rcsb @$$ ends can come around in a hurry. Feels very similiar to my old wrangler guess I gotta take it a bit easier! Fun day in the snow regardless. I did have a TON more control on my RCLB amazing what a little longer wheelbase can do.

What are your options for weight in the bed?

They make a bed bag that you can fill will water for the extra weight...

I have seen that bag it is pretty neet it sits flat on the bed.

It's called the Suretrax. I got one for my old man for Christmas. We'll see how it works.

I have the 2006 GMC Sierra SLT Extended Cab, 6.5 foot bed. I carry seven 50-pound sandbags, $4.00 each at hardware store. If I get into a situation where I need traction, I can knife open a bag or two and spread the sand. If some a$$hat steals them, I'm only out less than $30.

I'm loving the Stabilitrak on my '09 LT... plenty of back roads here in NH that do not get plowed and ice over easily. Had a couple of runs up to my girlfriends parents house with the TC on and I had the gas to the floor, no spinning, slipping, or sliding. Reminds me of my VW GTI...mash the gas and go let the computer do the work. Tried it once or twice with the TC off and round and round we go

I used to use the bags of sand but if you get one rain storm in between two good freezes you will not be knifing anything open for traction if you get stuck...cover the bags in some 6mil to be safe...

You think thats bad, try driving a CJ-7 Jeep with a lift in the winter. I did that for a while one winter. Pretty amazing how fast they swap ends. It didnt help running 31.5" mud terrains either.

This is my first winter with my 03 RCSB, and so far so good. We have our share of snow in MN already, and from what everyone told me all summer is to be careful so it doesn't pull the rear end around on a guy while driving. With the 5.3 it does have lots of power and spins quite easily, even on the gravel roads here in summer, so far i have been fine. My only worry is i put new tires on tuesday, so maybe the extra grip will wanna pull my rear end around. I haven't have to drive on to many roads yet that haven't been plowed with a few inches of snow on them, so time will tell. But i was thinking i might just throw some bags of farm lime in the back to help out as well. I never use the auto 4 wheel. I should probably try it, but i just put it in 4 hi then go and then slow down to a crawl and pop it in 2 and go. Ryan

I researched the Auto 4wd and the clutch pack is being used even when you push the 4wd button. So if your constantly switchin from 4hi to 2wd your using the clutch as much as just keeping it in Auto. Of course if every road is snow covered or your offroad 4hi is better.

Well its 4 miles to town on gravel/snow covered roads before highway. The only real time i use the 4 wheel drive is in the yard when i get it outta the shed to warm it up then jump in to go i have to back down by the barn and its a hill. So getting started in 2 wheel drive where the milk truck packs the snow to ice isn't going to happen. So i pop it in 4 hi. Would use 4 auto, but then the rears will have to slip then it will pop into 4 won't it? Just rather know its in 4 hi and will go when i go, then once i am up the driveway, another big hill, i put it in 2 and drive to town.

yeah for that situation makes sense, although the auto locks in very quickly the rear wheels dont hardly slip before 4 wheel squeel engages lol.
