Firestone Transforce Ht's

Hi everyone! First of all happy holidays to everyone. A while back there was a tire post somewhere. But the question was posed what tires we run on our trucks. I have Firestone Transforce HT's on the front of my dually. On the rear BFG Commercial TA's. I like the firestones and the consumer reviews and ratings on tirerack.com rate them superior in all but 2 categories. The 2 categories they aren't superior they still rate good. Whats the deal? Any opinions.

I've never ran the HT but I am very impressed with the AT's on my Sierra. They are 6 ply C rated LT's and they are wearing very well, quiet on the highway and seem to handle snow and winter very well. Really the first OEM tire on a new vehicle I have had worth anything and I would buy over.

I drove a newer 1/2 ton suburban at work with the transforce tires and I was pretty happy with the handling of the vehicle with 6guys or roughly 1000lbs but I cannot remember if they were at or ht

I had them on my 03 E350 "Ford" van and just got a new set installed last week to replace the old ones...yes I like them that much. My van is loaded to it's max and the tires handle very well for me in all weather... :shakehead:

here's my opinion...... they are Firestone's ... think inevitable tire recall .... but then maybe they will get recalled before they separate on you!

Wasn't the recall back in the 90's....like 15 years ago???

Get over it man....I know lots of people who will run nothing but Firestone/bridgestone.

I like Michelin my self...and BFG for a good offroad/AT tire...but that's Michelin too.

which recall are you talking about 15 years ago...?

...do you mean the Firestone 500's

...or the Firestone Dual Steel Radials

...or the Firestone Wilderness AT (that was the big one that actually killed people)

...or the Firestone Steeltex

...or the Firestone .... whatever (I can't remember them all!)

the same people still make the same tires in the same factories... now some of the tires come out the other end actually branded Bridgestone ...

there is a lot freakin history here... too much risk for me... (in my opinion!)

History yes....but anything recent?

And a lot of the problems with the tires came from them being used on the improper vehicle. Wrong load rating...speed rating....etc.

I haven't heard of anything in recent years about them coming apart...but I could be wrong. I know lots of people who swear by Blizzaks in the snow...and a lot of guys that love the drive of the Desert Duelers

Then there's the old Dayton's...for the cheap end of Firestone....always been a decant tire.

I'm just being devils advocate here....I'm not protecting or endorsing Firestone in any way....just want the guy to make a choice on all the facts...not just "oh they came apart once, they'll do it again"...every tire has had failures...just most of them didn't make the news for people dying.

I have Destination AT's with a little over 20k on them, Look new, are pretty damn quiet, Load Range C, excellent traction on anything, i'd put these tires upto any A/T on the market.. Oh Wait, TireRack did and they won.. Stop bringing up the past, if you want to.. how bout a chevy nova.. tryn to sell in S/A when it meant No-Go.. Take ford, The explored that they were on were shit to begin with.. So yes, blame them and never buy another, but look at the chevys you drive, if you want to pick apart one small thing, GM has TONS and TONS of flopps.. rediculous ridicule on here from narrow minded people is pathetic.

ok nytemare.... you challenged me to find a recent firestone recall...

so it took me 10 seconds to google "firestone recall" .... and up pops a July 2009 recall notice for Firestone FR380 tires .... son of a bitch!!!! they never learn, do they!!!!

WASHINGTON — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of 127,183 Firestone FR380 tires, size P235/75R15 because of a potential safety defect.

The tires were manufactured between September 2007 and July 2008, and were produced with insufficient tread base gauge. Continued use ofthose tires may lead to vibration and groove cracking, while extended use could lead to tread distortion or tread separation and a loss of vehicle control.

Firestone's parent company, Bridgestone, will notify owners and replace the tires free of charge.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

... I am willing to bet that there are some GM trucks driving around today with these very crappy Firestone tires... just ready to separate and blowout....

So I am finished with my (...pathetic and narrow minded....) debate on this issue now. I have no real problem with GM's faulty Vortec injectors, intake manifold gaskets, and 4L60E transmissions.... when these fail they only cost me money... when tires fail .. they tend to kill people. .... Just putting things in perspective for FargoZ71.

recalled firestone for your FR380 is SIZE P235/75R15, pretty small tire for todays trucks, what tire brand do you run?

- not everyone has a brand new truck

- and you really think that they only screwed up on the design and manufacture of ONE tire size ... I mean really.... give me a break!

- and I drive on TOYO's if you must know.... TOYO may not be perfect in avoiding manufacturing problems, I don't know...., but you sure don't hear about recall after recall... after recall

Good show Rod. I didn't hear of anything recant... of course ...its a potential safety hazard....no one died...and if no one dies it usually doesn't make news....or if it does, its a quick blurb.
