Any Quick Temp Fix Of Steering Rattle

Recommended Posts

hey guys

I know this is a beaten down topic, but after replacing my steering shaft so many times - well, having the treatment done I should say- both types - the latter one to. Well the rattle is back

so a QUESTION -

#1 is it a safety issue

#2 is there anyway to just rap it or put a grease fitting in it

I just know it will always come back

thanks

Have you ever changed the plastic bearing in the steering tube the shaft goes through???

Yours will be white. GM came out with a new and improved bearing that is blue.

The part # is 88963617 it is 20.57 from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com

Some people have had luck with putting a hose clamp around the bottom of the metal steering tube where the shaft goes in and tightening it real tight.

You could weld the splines together and it'll never clunk again. You might get impaled in a front end wreck, but it'll never clunk again.
