04 Avalanche Cruise Control Problem

The cruise control on my 2004 Avalanche has suddenly quit working. When trying to set, I can agressively and repaetedly press the "set" button and the indicator light will barely flicker. I have checked the fuse and the tail/brake lights, but they are fine. The one thing I wonder about is if there is some sort of sensor that could have been affected by me running through some very deeep snow drifts on Christmas day. I washed the truck and left it in the garage with a heater running underneath to melt the snow/ice and pulled the battrey cable in attemp to reser the computer. Still not working. Any suggestions?
