I know the Chevys had trouble in the past with hitch flex. I recall there being some pretty bad accidents as a result, not sure if Chevy ever settled and fixed the problem. The 2009 HD I have has a 2.5 inch receiver with and adapter for the 2" which I believe is standard.

 

Are the hitch receivers still a problem in 2009 and why did they have a 2. 5 inch receiver and a 2" inch adapter?

I haven't heard of any recent problems.

I didn't have any issues with my '02.

 

The 2500HD and 3500HD will come with a 2.5 inch receiver with the 2inch adapter.
