Crossthreaded 5.3sparkplug?solutions?

Well anyone got an answer on how to fix my drivers side rear plug i crossthreaded? It'll only go half way in. Any one used/have experience w/ a threadchaser? Is it a big gamble? Will the exhaust manifold be in the way? I'm a afraid that the thread-chaser will just follow the "new" incorrect thread path and become further off center as it buries deeper into the head port hole. Should i just buy a manual and pull the head and go get it machined? How many hours involved in pulling a 5.3 (2wd) head.? I know i really screwed up but brow beat me later and i'll take it like the real idiot that i am..
