Am I Crazy?

Someone please tell me if I am crazy or not.

 

I recently purchased a DVD navigation system (Kenwood DNX-5140) for my 07 GMT-900. So far I have ordered 2 Scosche dash kits, 1 American International kit, and finally 1 Metra Kit. None of these look what I would call acceptable.

 

The first Scosche and the American International did not even match the dash texture so I did not install them. The second Scosche kit (1598AB) matches the dash texture perfectly but when it was installed there was a 1/16th to 1/8th inch gap across the top where the kit meets the factory trim panel.

 

Finally I installed the Metra one thinking it would be the one I need and when I installed it the fit was perfect except for the left side where the kit meets the factory trim and there is a large gap.

 

I called Metra and sent the below pictures, and they agreed that it did not look right but the representatives response was "we don't deal with customers" to which I abruptly lost my mind and freaked out causing him to hang up the phone. I talked to the place I bought it (Online at Amazon.com) sent them the pictures and they said that I need to build a custom kit to get the look I want.

 

I just think I need one that is manufactured properly perhaps not in china.... AM I CRAZY?

mine does the exact same thing i have a metra kit, i HATE it im about to mold it in and paint the whole damn thing

I just installed a metra kit yesterday for my single din Kenwood unit on my 08 Sierra and I think it looks great. There are the slightest of gaps on the sides but it's totally close to perfect color and texture of the stock matte finish plastic. I'm very impressed with the single din kit at least.

Me too. I have slight gap but could care less. It looks good regardless!
