2007 Nbs Power Steering And Brakes

I have a 2007 NBS 2500HD Duramax Truck. This morning upon cold start I had no power assist for the steering and brakes. The fluid level was fine. I spoke to the dealer and was told to have it towed in. When the tow truck arrived the driver went to pull it out of the driveway to load it on the flatbed and steering and brakes were working again. The dealer cannot find any problems with the system.

 

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

If it does it again on a cold start,you may have to leave it overnite at the dealer. I had a problem with my hd,mine is 6.0 gas not diesel,my master cylinder was leaking down the firewall. Dealer had to replace the whole unit. Diesels don't make vacuum like a gasoline engine ,have to use a pump, could be part of same system.. plowking

Mine quit but never came back because the shaft sheared on the pump. I could see where this could be a very dangerous situation!

Yeah, I left it at the dealer for 3 days and they couldn't figure out the problem as it hasn't done it since. They don't think it will happen while driving but I am a little concerned.

The HD models use a hydroboost system, not a vacuum booster. The power steering pump provides pressure for both power steering and brake assist.

 

Did you check the fluid level?

Yes, the fluid level was fine. It has been a week and a half now and everything has been okay so far.
