Got some 305/25/24 on my 08 Sierra and I just wanna know if there is anything i need to do like get the computer reprogrammed or anything like that. Was thinking about getting a black bear tune does that void my warranty?

if the diameter of the new tires is larger or smaller than stock, then you need to reprogram. Otherwise... drive slow over bumps. As far as the warranty issue, it's been covered a million times too... You could loose your warranty if it caused something to go wrong.

The stock tires are 20's and the ones i have now are 24's so thats quite a big difference. Can I take it to the dealer and have them reprogram it (I dont know if they do that) or just get a tune like black bear?

305/25/24, do these hold air or are they solid rubber?

Haha they hold air. There is like 2 inches of sidewall maybe. Im actually suprised at how well they ride. The tread is pretty thick too its not like a street tire. Ill throw up a picture

305/35/24 soon to be powder coated charcoal gray. so you think a black bear tune would be good. Why exactly do I need to get it retuned? is it because gas mileage, speedo, transmission shift points?? just wondering. thanks

I dont like the look and its just not my style, but...... they are nice clean wheels, not to much going on. My biggest thing is that it makes the break rotors look so small, and I just like the meat of a tall tire, at least on a truck. Nice clean wheel though!

Might want to put some lock lugs on them, they could be worth some $$$$$ for someone else. Its happened to other people on here, even just the stock 20"

Thanks man. I actually dont like the look as much as i thought I would. my original plan was to put 35 or 38 inch tires on the 24's and jack it up. But Thats gonna happen after my warranty is up. So this will do for now. im gonna have them powder coated black cuz they are a pain the ass to clean.

The diameter of the wheel can be anything from a 17" to ?? size.. that doesn't matter. It's the overall diameter of the tire that makes the difference. A 265/75r16 is about the same size as a 275/55r20.

Check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and enter your stock tire size and the new tire size and see what the difference is. That will help you determine whether you need to program or not. :dunno:

I use the same size 24 inch tires and I did not reprogram... Dont worry about it. Your speedometer will be off just 2 or 3 mph or so... No big deal..

I run 24s in the warmer months. If you reprogram your truck, the speedometer will be off again as soon as you put your factories back on. If you dont use these wheels 12 months a year, I would not reprogram it.

Also, I had brand new trailblazer I put 22's on, and it did not void the warranty. I broke something in the front end on the highway, and they towed my truck and fixed it no problem. Never said anything about my wheels, but every dealership could be different...

You could not find any 28" ones? :dunno:

They would be perfect for of road use and rock climbing. With rubber bands for tires.

Nice, not really my style , but they look clean.

As far as the warranty goes. It really depends on your dealership. Some are more forgiving than others.

Also it depends on why you are bringing it in to be worked on..... If your bringing it in to have a leaky window fixed, then no they are probably not going to say anything about your tune. Get the picture? :dunno:

Also if you go in for transmission or rear end trouble, They are going to be looking pretty hard at those big ol' rims.

If your that worried you can buy an extra module and just swap them out before you go in for warranty work. Meaning you take your stock one out and put it in the closet somewhere, And install the new ones and let the tuner program that one

Over half of the trucks that are lifted, or have "meaty" tires on them are garage queens that never see any dirt. I run 24's in the warmer months, and I have no problem driving in thick mud or for light off-roading.

To the OP, I wouldn't worry about changing the speedometer. It's going to be off by 2-3 MPH, which is no big deal (at least to me). And as for the warranty if you tune it, it all depends on the dealership. If a dealer does find out you've tuned your truck, they can void your warranty, but I doubt it. You can always put your stock sets in when you do visit the dealer.
