Silverado 2009 Radio...

Hello,

I want to change the factory radio in my Silverado 2009. I would like to know what the radio is controlling exactly... Is the radio has something to do with the steering wheel? I don't have audio control on it, only the cruise control. I want to keep On-Star functions of course so I will install the audio pac OS-4 to keep it. Do I need something else (like harness) or need to know anything else?

thanks!

radio doesnt have anything to do with the steering wheel. i have the same PAC piece, it will come with a small speaker to retain the chimes for your lights/door/whatever it may be, i chose to leave the speaker unplugged because i thought it was annoying, the chime isnt the same as factory. but with that module i had no issues whatosever!

Are you keeping XM radio? If you are and you dont have the steering wheel with radio controls you will have to replace the xm reciever with a new one thats the same brand of the radio. If you have steering wheel control then you can use the factory XM reciever but you will have to have a steering wheel adapter jack to go along with the OS-4.

The OS-4 will come with everything you need including a wiring harness you wire to the aftermarket radio wiring harness then it plug into the OS-4 and the Factory wires plug into the OS-4 plug . You do NOT have to cut any the factory harness at all. You can go to www.pac-audio.com and pull up the OS-4 and pull up the directions on installing it.

I don't have XM Radio in my truck. What do you mean about "steering wheel controls"? I believe you mean "steering wheel audio controls". I have the cruise control only on my steering wheel. that's it. thanks for the clarification

Yes steering wheel audio control . Its pretty easy for you then , wire the the OS-4 harness and the factory radio harness together (its color coded) plug it into the radio connections slot on the OS-4 then plug your factory radio harnesses into the the other wire harnesses that come with the OS-4 and then plug the other ends of those into the OS-4 put the CMX (chimebox)where you want it and plug it into the wire thats runs from the 2 wiring harnesses you connected together .
