Don't tap yourself out just so that you can have a new truck. Get what you can afford to buy and maintain properly. And what is a basic truck exactly, what motor, cab configuration? If it has the V-6 you might be disappointed in the power, and if you go from your truck to a standard cab you might really miss the extra room. If any of those are problems wait a couple months and try to save some extra cash towards putting into a new truck that fits what you actually want.

Agreed. Unless there is some reason you HAVE to replace your current truck right away, or something that makes you uninterested in a newer used truck, don't just settle for a base truck. Save up a bit or look around for a GMT900 that has everything you want and falls within your price range.

Rebates alone on the 2009s would help bump you up to a nicer pkg. As for 2009 vs 2010, there is almost no difference in appearance or function of the lower priced models. There were a few minor changes on the top of the line models and features, but even those look the same.

As for rather its a good truck or not. I buy them all the time for my business, to be used as delivery trucks, and they hold up very well. They get good mileage with the v6 or the small v8s, not really any diff, the V6 has to work harder, where the small V8s can loaf a little, so mileage is about the same on the sticker and in the real world.

It really just depends on your wants and needs. If you are compromising, by all means, save up and wait until you can afford what you want. If you are like me and what you wanted/needed was a basic truck with a few necessary options, than you should be able to swing a pretty good deal on a W/T (or LS depending on options).

Wow I didnt think it would be that much. Good luck with whichever you get. But I did buy s-10 instead of a full size and hated it. Saved a little cash but lost a lot of room. Its your money though, you get whats best for you. Put up some pics when you bring her home.

Looks like a good little truck. I had a 05 Canyon CC 4x4 Z-71. It was a good truck but I needed a little mor for pulling. What plans if any do you have for it?
