Question About Tire Size

Couldn't find a definitive answer so I'll go ahead and ask. Spec are in sig, 3.23 rear end. Want to go to a larger tire in the future, however I do realize I am limited.

I know 285/70/17 is out of the question with 3.23's; however, I was wondering if 275/70/17 would turn this thing into a total dog. I think I could get away with 265/70/17. How big of a hit performance-wise and mileage-wise would I be looking at?

I have 275-55-20s on my truck and it came with a 3.23 rear gear. It did OK with that combo (about the same overall size as a 175-70-17)

I have since gone to 3.73 gears. Much better. Mileage has stayed at about 16.6 average with both gears.

Hmm, there's only 0.25" difference between the tires you ran and the 275/70/17. I drive fairly old man-ish, however we do have some hills around here.

I have hear 5-10% is ok to jump up. 275 70 = 32.15 / 285 70 = 32.70. I do not see why you cannot go up that minor bit.

I really think you'll like them. I did lose about 1.5 mpg when I went from 17s to 20s.
