Cut Resonator Off 07 Sd

Well after reading several posts I decided to do it. Just like Matt_ I cut the pipe so the exhaust would flow towards the ground. The tone is deeper and you can feel it when standing outside the truck. There is definitely a noticeable difference in the way it sounds.

Here is a pic of the tool that made it so easy.

I wish I knew how to embed the videos.

I have a pic of the piece I cut off. I cut it so the pipe has a distinct downward exit. It sounds awesome. It's like a deep rumble that I can feel in my chest.

So when I cut mine it didn't have that thing on the end. Is that the resonator?

Yeah. That resonator was located after the muffler in the section of pipe that goes over the rear axle. It was on the downward section with the long piece sticking out the back. My wife's 07 Tahoe with a 5.3L has one as well. I don't know about the 4.8L...

The 4.8's may not. I didn't have one. I cut above the axle though just like you and matt. Mine doesn't sound quite as good being only a 4.8 but I do notice a throatier sound. I like it but may invest in an exhaust system eventually. But for now this works great. and is FREE!

I was hearing some other sound in the After video. Almost sounds like you can hear more of the mechanicals in the engine itself. I don't know, I can't explain it.

Probably not something you hear in RL. I'm sure it sounds much better in person.

I heard that too.... i wonder if the engine warm for the first video and the second video was a cold start?
