Those Of You With The New Short Box Bed Carrying Your Bikes?

I am going from the ECSB to a CCSB with the 5'6" (or is it 5'8"?) bed so I am losing approximately a foot in the bed length.

Currently I mount my road bike on a rack I built that utilizes the built in load divider locations for 2x4s or 2x6s. It works great currently but I have aero bars on my bike which means that the bike ends up being longer than the standard bike and I'm thinking that I will not have space to mount the bike facing forward in the bed and will have to position it so the aero bars hangout over the tailgate.

Has anyone run into this and how have you approached mounting the bike?

Oh I would prefer to mount in the bed as opposed to getting a hitch mount.

I'll try for pics later as I'm at the office now and don't have the mount in the truck. Essentially I took a 2x6 and attached a 2x4 to the 2 inch side and then attached the bike mount to the 2x4 and the until sits in the built in sots in the bed for wood bed dividers. Pretty dumbed down but it has worked great. I'm not sure but I think the wood bed divider spots in the shorter bed would cause the back whell of the bike to stick out past the tailgate.

The bed is closer to 5'-9". Sounds like a small difference, but look at the Tundra CrewMax rear bed (which is 5.5 ft)... and you can see the difference in proportions (FWIW).

I currently have a 2000 Silverado ECSB and have a 2010 Sierra CCSB on order. I thought that there was around an 8-10 inch difference in the bed lengths.

That is correct, you are going to a 5'8" box from a 6'6" box. Unless you are getting a 2500 you cant get the 6'6" box on a crew cab (I think). It depends how long your bike is. I also assume you are talking about the slots in the bedliner? if your mounting the bike now with the front tire on the bike, maybe remove the front tire and you should fit good?
