just thought i'd see what all you folks were running for firearms when it came to hunting..i myself run an remington 870 magum generally 3 inch shells for waterfowl atm, i sold both my rifles because i wasen't getting alot of enjoyment out of deer hunting around here, i'm looking into maybe an r700 next season though, give deer another shot.

When I deer hunt, I actually like using my good ole Lever Action Marlin 30-30. I have access to stronger rifles like a 30-06, and my SKS using a plug; but I like the lever action, reminds me of chuck conners in the Rifleman... :)

I have hunted during black powder season with .50 caliber Connecticut Valley Arms using pyrodex pouches.

For Turkey Hunting I use a Winchester 20 guage.

I still would like to get me a nice over/under one day.... :D

For waterfowl I love my 870 magnum. For big Canada's I use 3-1/2s and 3" for ducks and snow geese. For game birds I love using my Ithaca 2-3/4 pump bottom eject. Such a nice light good shooting little shotgun! For critters my old remington 22-250 bolt action sees the action. For big game my savage bolt action synthetic stainless .300 magnum is my choice. Best rifle I've ever owned. And occasionally I'll pull out the .270 pump action remington my old man gave me when I turned 16. :)

Of all the scatter guns I've got, there is nothing like my 30" Browning Citori O/U 12ga. I've had it for more than 30 years. 26" Beretta 20ga SbS is pretty close second especially if I don't feel like lugging around such a big gun. Favorite plinker is the H&K 22mag semi auto. I call it the nail driver. Game weapon choices are plentiful around here. Too many good ones to pick just one. Within my family, I have or have access to everything from .204 to .50 in a wide variety of manufacturers.

Now, if I could just find the time to go use them again!

The last time I hunted I used a M249 (AKA FN Minimi). Quite effective, to say the least. As for four-legged or winged critters I cannot state what my favorite firearm is. The last time I hunted stateside I was eighteen and used a Remington Sportsman 48.

I deer hunt with a Thompson Contender with a 14 inch bull barrel in 7mm TCU. It has a 2-7 pwr recoil proof scope on it. The 7mm TCU is a .223 case with a 7 mm bullet in it. I also have a .223 barrel for it.

I also have Thompson Center....20" .223 barrel with a 3-9x Leopold scope. It's a single shot, but the gun is a tack driver and its fun to shoot!! That's my groundhog gun. For deer I use a pump-action Remmington Model Six chambered for a .270 Win. I loadmy own bullets. Sure it's not as accurate as a bolt-action....but I like it.

For pheasant I use a Remington 1100 I got for Christmas some 20 years or so, ago. For deer I've been using a Remington Model 700 30-06. I went boar hunting for the first time last year. I used my Model 700 for the first hunt and a buddy convinced me to use my M44 Mosin Nagant for the other 2 hunts. I dropped a 275 pounder with no problem with the 7.62x54R. For a $150 rifle it sure it is a great choice. Next year for deer I'm going to try my new 6.8mm Rem SPC upper on my Stag Arms AR-15.

lol i had the carbine version of the nagant(m-40 or 44) i can't remeber, it was a beast but i ended up selling it because it wasen't safe, no safety and once it was loaded it was ready to go, i got tired of stripping the bolt to transport it too..

That's the M-44. I have three of those and just sold another one. A M28 Civil Guard rifle, M91/30 and M1891 are also in my collection. Had an M39 years ago as well but traded it off. They do have a safety, albeit not a very practical one. Pull back and rotate the knob at the back of the bolt. Very effective but also very cumbersome to operate and not a good choice in a tactical situation. As for the bolt, it is very easy to remove (simply pull the trigger to release it) but also one of the most complex bolt mechanisms ever designed. I've taken them apart countless times and still get confused sometimes. :P

1938 German Mouser build code 42, pre-war rifle with Nazi markings and in near perfect condition. Also have a Poly-Tech AK-47 imported in 1986 with side folding metal stock (rare). Still brand new and never been fired.

We have taken the mouser on a deer hunt and knocked down a small buck. Don't hunt much or shoot guns much. Just something I have had for many years. These two guns are very cool to look at and hold

It depends what I am hunting. I am more of a whitetail hunter so I use my Browning A-bolt chambered in a 7mm mag. I have hunted elk and I use my Remington 700LSS with a custom 32" Shilen barrel chambered in a .300 Ultra mag. Sometimes I use the .300 UM if I am hunting whitetail over 400 yards. Then if I am hunting dove I use my Remington 12ga model 1100.

I reload all my own ammo and I am a ballistics freak, if you need help with anything like that just ask.
