I have a 2004 2500lt w/6.0 eng, when truck sits at idle for ten or so mins. reduced engine power didpays on dashboard display, I checked water level in coolant it was ok but still showing reduced power, shut off and let it set for a few mins and back it goes to running properly...doesnt run hot @ 200-205 on water temp...confusing , done this twice, 1st time added liter of water but today it didit and water was ok.

sounds like your pcm maybe needs a checkin, i don't remeber the exact specifics that trigger the limp mode, but i had odd balls brake messages popping up randomly and it ended but being i needed an update for the pcm..

its pricey let me warn you, my bill was like 300 bucks...i read my manuel and the limp mode is for severe misfireing or detonation or overheating...

I've had some experiance with the limp mode(reduced engine power) and with mine it would happen when I had the cruise on. It would set the check engine light and when I pulled the code it led me to the throttle actuator module. If I unplug the pedal sensor and plug it back in it would start working properly but still show engine light, but if I unplug the throttle body connector and plug it back in when I restarted it would clear. My mechanic friend told me that I needed to replace the throttle actuator motor which means the entire throttle body as they are one and the same, the actuactor motor is riveted to the throttle body and is not replacable alone. The manual says Reduced engine power is related to Temp. but obviously that's not always the case.
