Midgetv2 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 ok so i bought a 3in body lift for my 98 GMC Sierra. my question is, where can i have it installed if i dont do it myself, and how much will it cost if i dont do it myself. i would do it myself but i just dont have the time or place to do it. also, how long would it take to do yourself or in a shop?
Matt_ Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 expect a shop to charge about 8 hours of labor. some people can do body lifts in their driveways in a few hours... others take a weekend. read the instructions and see how long you think it would take you.
gregrocks89 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I ended up taking it to the shop for mine. i couldn't get the time for mine. it all depends how rusted bolts are so that will take some time to get them off. but it only costed me $1000 to get installed.

gregrocks89 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 hey that was the cheapest i could get it around here. I heckled him alot to get it that low. everyone wanted $1500- $2000
tomasg921 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Well, its on there so i guess that's all that really matters, and that you like it. I just got my zone 1.5" BL and plan on putting it in this weekend if it doesn't rain.
Matt_ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 What's the labor rate in your area... $300/hour??? Edit... or did that $1000 include the cost of the body lift? Because that would actually be about right...
Dooner Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I think he's in Canada, so it may be a bit more there with the exchange rate. Nevertheless, $1000 seems high to me also.
Midgetv2 Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 ya i really dont plan on shelling out 1000. that is a little out of my price range. probably going to do it myself. just got to find some days off where i dont have any training.
JonGMCSierra Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Hello. I am new to the forum, and new to trucks! I just purchased a 96 GMC Sierra 1500 and am also looking into doing a body lift...on my own. However, how difficult are they to do? My big concerns are the engine/radiator and shifter (My truck is an auto tranny). Help?
Midgetv2 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 when i put mine one it wasnt really difficult persay... just a pain in the ass at times. just depends on if there is a lot of rust and things like that. mine is an auto and its easy to do
