08 Silverado Taillights Not Staying Lit

I have a 08 silverado and the taillights do not stay lit if I take the slightest pressure off the pedal. I have seen others have expiriened this problem as well, and has taken the liberty to do a DIY fix. I was wondering if anyone has had a dealer take care of the problem

Ya the brake light switch is a pile. They had the same problem in the GMT800s. They redesigned the switch a little but the exact same problem. There have been 2 replacement switches for the GMT900s, I have the latest one that I got under warranty. You can have the dealer replace it, you can buy it for $20 or so on GM Parts Direct, or you can open it and cut the spring like people did for both the 800s and 900s. It's still not perfect with the newest switch, but it's a lot better. There's a company that sells stuff for towing your vehicles behind an RV and they sell a bracket for these trucks to put in a normal brake light switch, it's basically the same switch they used to use for hood contact for an alarm. I may just say screw it, put one of those on and rewire the stupid thing.

I cut the spring on mine a year ago...still works perfect and took no time to do it

Thanks for the info. I think that since my truck is still under warranty I will give the dealer a try first with the new switch and if that doesnt work, try the DIY fix.
