Electric Fans On 2001 1500hd 6.0

I have a 2001 1500HD with 6.0 that gets 11.5-12 MPG. I have been considering removing the clutch and fan from the water pump and replacing with 2 Hayden Electric Fan Assemblies. Looking at using the 14 or 16" assemblies with an adjustable thermostat control that has a probe that slips in the radiator fins.

Has anyone else done this swap to free up engine power? What fans did you use (how big, how many and standard duty or high flow) and how is it working out...

Did you see noticable results?

Thanks, Big E

I replaced my clutch fan with a Flex-a-lite monster fan. It is a dual puller fan with two speeds, temp sensor that fits into the fins on the radiator. I can't remember the exact gains I got using the fans. It helps mostly with city driving, highway driving less significant. I love mine. Have had no problems with them. I broke one of the two fans, and the single never had a problem cooling the motor, it happened in the summer as well. It has since been fixed. Good luck.
