Trans Temp Gauge

I have a 2000 Silverado Z71. It does not have a trans temp gauge in the cluster. Is it possible to retrofit a factory temp gauge/cluster to this truck?

Yes it is possible, but it does take some patience and work. I purchased an Aeroforce to monitor mine and stuck it on my A pillar. It monitors quite a few other things as well.

2000 denali replacement cluster will work too for a factory look too.

Can you post a picture of yours Jenna? I have wanted an Aeroforce and plan to either put it in the A pillar or else the overhead storage (GMT-800) so would be curious to see yours! Please?!? Is is to bright at night or not bad? Thanks!

I put the Scangauge II in my 2000 5.3 and love it. It gives accurate tranny temp readings as well as many other cool functions like MPG, horsepower, torque, etc. I take it out and use it on my other cars when I take a long trip. Great tool for tranny and water temp. www.scangauge.com

Escalade cluster also has the trans temp gauge. Simple plug and play if you decide to make the change. Everything is already wired in, and will start working immediately.

So I would like to do the same thing; I have an 06 SLT CC. I have the spot on my gauge cluster but Im assuming that you cant just add the single gauge to a cluster? If I go ahead and swap out the entire cluster for one that includes the tranny temp what happens to the odometer? Ive heard of people having them re-programmed but I am somewhat weary about that since everyone is always so freaked out about odometer readings.....any details out there? Above you said that this is plug and play....the sensor is already there? or is that for the 01 only? I like the digital gauges but would prefer to stick with the factory look.

Any input or feedback would be graetly appriciated! Thanks everyone!

It would be much easier to put a new cluster in the truck already equipped with a trans temp gauge. If you look around you can find them for $100 - $125. '99-02 trucks use a different data signal than '03-06 so you need a cluster from your corresponding year range.

Denalis, Escalades, HDs, H2s, etc. all have trans temp gauges. All will be plug and play. Remove the dash bezel that goes around the cluster and radio by pulling at a corner and unclipping it all the way around. The cluster is held in by four 7mm bolts ('99-02 at least). Unplug it, plug the new one in, and reverse the steps.

For the '99-02 trucks, the odometer reading will NOT transfer, it will read whatever it read when pulled from the donor truck. Not sure on '03-06 because I haven't had the chance to mess with one.
