Fuel Gauge Issues

2001 GMC Sierra 6.6 Fuel gauge is on full then drops to empty then back to full. This happens sometimes 2 or 3 times a day or sometime never. It seems to happen when the tank is full. I have heard that this happens with the low sulphur diesel. Not sure where or what to start looking for. Any help????

I had a 2001 Duramax (k3500) It, being one of the 1st Duramax's, It had several issues. The dealer replaced two different parts of the fuel gage sending unit parts. They told me that they were $500 & $700 parts. Mine fuel gage went out under warranty. I traded that truck before its 3rd birthday, when the warranty went out.(3 yr, 36,000 mi)
