Ddm Tuning Hid Lights

I've been looking at getting HID lights for my high beams. I noticed that DDM is now selling the Raptor lights for $25, which to me seems like a pretty darn good deal. Only thing is, they are the analog ballasts and are a tad bigger. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. I'm sure I can mount them just fine, but maybe not in the best location.

I just put 2 sets in my truck one set in the lows and one set in the fogs and love them. I got 35w 6k's. Easy to put in, had to make 880 style fit in the fogs but didn't have any problems at all due to the light fits you just need to make a clip to hold them in, I just use metal wire. They work good, come on fast. The fogs are a little to much due to there is no covers over the bulbs but the lows have a nice cutoff line and don't blind the people in front of you are coming at you.Only problem I am having is trying to override the auto headlights.

Well I just finished putting my order through for the 55 Watt Raptor kit, 5000K, w/ wiring harness. I read somewhere that the 4500K with the 55W kit makes it look a little yellowish. I really hate any blue so 6000K would be too high. I think the 5000K will give the most white in combination with the kit I ordered.

I would imagine it to take at least a week until I receive them so I plan on reporting back after install.

I had to wait a week for mine to come back in stock and then about 4 days to ship.

i really wanna get these and do this mod. i decided on 35w 6000k lights. i am tired of the yellow stock lights and would like a little more brightness, but i dont want to run anyone off of the road.

i want to do high/lows and fog lights.

can someone make sure this is what i need:

Low beam: H11

High beam: 9005

Fog lights: 5202

so i need three sets of the raptor HID kits ($75) for H11, 9005, and 5202 with ballasts. basically, that is six HID lights and six ballasts.

can someone tell me/link me the wiring harness I need for the DRL's and what i need to do to disable the drl's or to make sure the HID's are compatible with my current setup?

thank you in advance.

Wiring harness from DDM: http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=produ...3&parent=94

You can use the wiring harness so DRLs still work OR pull the DRL fuse(s) and not use the wiring harness. You could also use the wiring harness and no fuses. I am using the wiring harness to protect my factory harness and also give me peace of mind (I will be using the 55W vs the 35W).

Those bulb styles all look correct to me. 3 sets (6 bulbs/6 ballasts) is also correct.

ordering them now..

anyone know if they take longer to come on than regular bulbs?

what about them turning on when you keyless entry unlock the doors, etc?

i really want to retain all that functionality.

also:

has anyone gotten pulled over/ticketed for these?

i really dont want to do anything illegal.. the DPS troopers love to pull people over here and i get flashed all the time. not too late to cancel my order.

They will take a little bit to warm up, My lights do not flash with the keyless entry only my parking lights do so I cant help you there.

To fully warm up the bulbs I believe it take around 10 seconds. You can still have the lights come on when using the keyless entry, it is all preference, but the on/off cycling of the ballasts is what degrade their life. I would recommend disabling the entry/exit lighting through the DIC.

the ddm site is a good deal.. this is just sketchy.. if i want to hit my brights it's going to take 10 seconds for them to come on which means 10 seconds of driving in darkness (unless i rig it where i can have both on at the same time).. really trying to keep my truck mostly stock and probably going to cancel my order tomorrow.

plus, i really dont want to piss other drivers off going down the road. plus i lose functionality of having my lights come on when i unlock the car, etc.

i'm doing a good job talking myself out of the HID's. they look cool but I just want to keep 'em stock. i will decide tomorrow. worst comes to worst, i guess i can sell them if i dont like them.

:)

You have a GMT900. The low beams stay on when the high beams are triggered. That's how they work when they leave the factory.

Properly adjusted, you're not going to piss other drivers off.

thank you V8GMT Guy.

i am not going to cancel now. that was the thing i was most worried about. i am going to install them and if i cant deal with it, i will return them or sell them.
