I an looking to get a 93 octane tune for my truck but can't seem to find 93 octane fuel in the Fargo, ND area. I could go with a 87 octane tune but what fun would that be? Thanks for any help.

you guys have Chevron down there??

That's what I use, they have 94 octane as they're supreme+ grade.

If not, the 92 octane fuel is generally around 93+... If you read the label it says 92 minimum octane rating...you'd be fine using that...and if your still a little skeptical, toss a can of booster in it.

no chevron. Mostly Tesoro and cenex maybe a couple mobils and the usual mom and pop gas stations. Not much of a selection out on the prairie.

fuel up with the highest octane you can find, then go buy a pack of octane booster (AMSOIL is good). They are about $9.65 a container but i think you can get a big box for a discount.

Every time you fill up, dump a container in there.

AMSOIL says it will get you about 3 extra points from a full 12-ounce bottle. Use it in everything from sleds to race cars.

AND you get awesome stickers! to prove how much of a BA you are because you use octane booster...

93 octane is fairly common around Indianapolis. I just filled up with 93 today at a Meijer gas station. There is a local station about a mile from my house in Clermont that sells 110 octane if you'd like to go that route.

Over a year ago I switched from regular gas to 91+ octane gas. I keep meticulous records of my MPGs with every tank of gas ever since I've had the truck. When I switched, my records show a consistant 1-1.5 mpg increase. I haven't noticed any performance gains, but there is definately some economy gains for me.

If what you say is true, then in this scenario you would get 35 more miles out of a tank......If you gained 1.5 mpg.

Truck A

420 miles

34 gals

12.35 mpg

Truck B

470 miles

34 gals

13.85 mpg

with the monetary difference on what truck A spent and truck B spent to fill up, truck A could have only traveled 15 additional miles. That would bring truck A's total range to 435 miles, still 35 miles short of what truck B could travel on its initial 34 gallons of fuel.

Interesting fact there GMC_MAXX, thanks for sharing!

LOL...it is worth it. My 6 litre will get 80 more clicks out of a tank. The reason for it with a tune is so you can advance the timing. It does make a difference, and it throw pings at you and drop your timing automatically...I ran a few tanks with the 87 tune then went to 93 re-flashed my ECM and it makes a difference. Snappier throttle.....anyways here in Canada it's everywhere. Except husky stations. Shells got it, Mohawk, petro-can.
