2.4 Ecotec Surging Horribly

hi, i got an 09 saturn vue with the 2.4 4cyl, good motor, but something is screwing up in the tranny, surges badly, 55 it sometimes, but try holding 35, 45 and 50, forget it, my tach jumps from 1500ish to 2200-2500 and back to the point my car is bucking like crazy, i dont even dare use cruise control, i either got to totally let off the gas, let it calm down get back on it, and let off, over and over, its ticking me off, if i dont im affaid im gona leave the tranny on the side of the road, but cruise down the highway at 70, not a surge, not a stumble, and plus my mom car which had this same motor and tranny did the same thing, but not nearly as bad and didnt shift at 3100-3200, hers was more at 2300-2500 (07 saturn ion 3) if this keeps up (i only got 13000 miles on mine) im gona get rid of this pos and get a truck or something, and plus idk if its how i drive, but is it me, or are these firestone tires like a super soft rubber, the way im goin by 30k they are going to be bald, otherwise i like it alot, but the motor/tranny combo is driving me up a wall big time

forgot also, idk why is does this, done it since new, when going threw the gears unless i got it almost floored, it stays in 1st a long time, then into 2nd a long time, shifts to 3rd for like 2 seconds then in 4th, which just bogs the heck out of the motor and its like i threw the anchor out the back, then it picks up and drops in the overdrive, which only way itll drop in is if i totally let off the gas, if im still gaining even 1mph every 10seconds it wont drop in, i like have to totally let off, my moms car with the same tranny but 3.5 v6 dont do that, more even and fluid like shifting

would there be codes with no idiot lights on? another thing it did to me today, i thought it was gona crap a valve or something, now and then weather it be winter or summer, when i start it dont matter warm or ice cold motor, itll sound louder than my dad when he had a 2000 cummins diesel, today was scary loud and lasted about 3-4 seconds, i didnt like that, i did read something about having the shifting points in the comp cleared is sopose to help? but i think i see why when i was at a dealer they are stuffing a 6 speed in with the 2.4 in the gmc terrian, im thinking the 4cyl with the 4 speed arnt good friends being how the power band on the 4's are more in the higher revs then down low like a 6 or 8 cyl, other than them things, it aint a bad car, and for being 6'4" i got plenty of room were as in my moms car, forget it, now i just need to keep my foot out of the gas when leaving work and maybe i can get my fuel milage back up above 22, lol

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
