Engine Twitch......seems To Mis At Idle.......

I need some help here........my 2010 Silverado Ext Cab LTZ with the 5.3L engine seems to mis when i am sitting at a stop light or at idle. The mis is very slight, but noticable enough through the seat. It almost seems like a small twitch of the engine which is what leads to me think its mis-firing slightly. Can anybody offer up some info? No code lights are on either........The truck has 350 miles on it and i use 87 octane.

Thanks,

Lee

Mine did the same thing. Seemed smooth as silk when it had 40 miles on it, but once it hit around 2,000 miles I got that shake. Now I have a little over 37K on it - still starts, runs, & accelerates perfectly.

I wouldn't worry about it unless the check engine light comes on.

Your not misfiring, if you were it would be throwing a CEL

No engine fires the mixture 100% of the time, but you have to miss, not 100% sure on the number, I believe 3 times in a row on the same cylinder to throw a code for misfire on that cylinder, or 3 cylinders in a row to throw the multiple/random misfire detected code.

Try running some higher octane fuel to see if it helps, and also make sure you don't have the AC on, which may be cycling and causing a drag that feels like misfires.

I have owned 4 LS series engine over the years and they all do what you described. My 2009 5.3 quit doing it running E-85.

Yeah, my truck does it still...but since I had it tuned and I run 94 Octane it does it a lot less.

Thanks for the info. Like i said, it seems to have a "twitch" every few seconds while sitting in park or waiting at a stop light. Its generally a small little twitch of the engine once every 5-10 seconds or so. Its enough that I can feel it, but just so slightly. Obviously i am not sure if it is technically a "mis", but that is what it feels like.

Yup, that's what we all have man.

Try running higher octane man...it may get rid of it....or lessen the feel of it.
