I have 1993 GMC Sierra 1500 and the radio and equalizer quite working. I got a different one from a buddy and he said it works but when i hooked it up it didn't work and the only thing i can do is turn it on and off there is no sound nothing at all.

Chances are its the small computer behing the ashtray, under the radio where you can see the antenna plugged in. I'd go to a wrecker and take a couple off and check them on your truck first cause its a common defect. Make sure its the same audio setup (ie tape/EQ). Its a 10 minute job, remove ashtray and cover under steering wheel, remove 2 nuts (8mm, 5/16 I believe), and unplug it, 5-6 plugs plus antenna. When testing u may have to touch the case to ground bracket for it to work.

Okay and how would you test it. How much do them usually cost.

Plug it into your truck and make sure it works.

Cost depends on wrecker, There is a REALLY reasonably priced one nearby that charges $5-10 for that type of thing, but others will charge half of dealer cost which is ridiculous.
