1999 Suburban Misfiring Uphill

Hello,

 

I'm new to the forum and appreciate your help.

 

I have a '99 Suburban (C1500) with 147k on it. Just recently, she's been misfiring when pulling at ~75mph up a hill.

 

I am going to repalce intake manifold gasket soon.

 

Any ideas on what might be causing the misfire? I'll check the distributor gear when I do the gasket and am also going to replace the FP regulator (the thing cranks and cranks when it is hot and I read somewhere that the FP regulator was the culprit)

your ignition system may be starting to go(coil breaking down) just a thought..

how long has it been since you did the plugs and wires? What kind of plugs do you have in there?

Plugs/Wires/Rotor/Cap <5k miles so misfire has started after that. Coil is original equipment. Plugs are AC and are the standard plugs.

 

Have been thinking about the coil. It is a simple part to change.

Think about doing an injector or top end cleaning using seafoam. You could just have a little carbon build up.

Re-check your plugs and wires. Somtimes new wires come bad from factory.

Latest on the Burb.

 

replaced MAP, lower intake manifold gaskets, upper intake manifold gaskets, upgraded to MFI injectors. BIG project!

 

Argh! The problem is still there! It feels slightly different but, no matter, it is still there.

 

Going to go ahead and change out more parts as well as plugs and wires (after only 6K I can't believe they're bad, but....)
