Buckle Passenger

At random times, I'll get a chime and a Buckle Passenger (or Fasten Passenger - can't quite remember exactly) message on the DIC while driving around, even though someone is sitting in the passenger seat with their belt fastened. Can anyone tell me where this sensor is? I'd like to just disable it - kind of pointless and annoying anyway. I'm attributing it to a malfunctioning sensor because it only does it when my wife is in the passener seat. When I'm in it - I weight over 100lbs more than she does - it won't go off.

I haven't looked for it myself, but I have been told its under the foam on the bottom section of the seat. Probably easier just to tape it down so it always thinks there is a passenger, no codes would ever be possible then.

For anyone that ever looks at this thread and has this problem in the future, it was the buckle itself. The wire was pinched in the joint on the seat frame where the back and seat meet and was grounding out. So if you ever run into this problem, take the seat belt buckle assembly out first and examine the wiring.

And you will also want to keep in mind that bypassing that switch will also change the way the air bag works. Most have air bags that will deploy differently depending on the weight of the passenger, telling the truck that there is a 300 pound passenger may have devestating effects on the 75 pound child if you get into an accident that deploys the air bag.
