I was looking into purchasing a exhaust system for my truck but what I want to know is when is a good time to consider getting one, I dont wana mess up the warranty getting it, my local shop who I go to all the time is gonna do it for $300 installed, single in dual out super 40 muffler, I have had the truck for 2 weeks so I wanted to know if getting this now already would void a warranty or not, the shop told me that it wouldnt mess with the warranty as he guaranteed it, granted this is my first ever new truck so its all new to me. Any and all helps it appreciated.

The exhaust will not void any aspects of your warranty, especially not a cat-back system. Only Q for you is do you really want 40's on your truck? I'd be scared of drone on a new pickup, but I run straights so mines there anyways, but hey 300$ isnt a bad price as long as it's stainless.

What muffler would you suggest, I got the V6 instead of the V8 because living in florida its all flat lands and I don't forsee going off roading and what not, all I pull is the jet ski, I want a muffler thats gonna sound good(simulate a V8) but not sound like a ricer, I had the 50 suv on my last truck but granted that was a 5.3 V8 so it sounded good but I think that muffler would sound not as good as a different muffler would on my new truck.

I have the 70 series big block on my truck and I like it. Nice tone but not overly loud. I've also heard Dynomax mufflers on V6 trucks. They sound good without being too loud too. www.Summitracing.com sells them I believe.

Well, on a V6 you could probably run the 40 series, with a V-6 is it a regular cab>? Cause if it is i'd stay with the 40's and if you didnt like the sound I'd just dynamat the rear wall and floor. Should sound good, if not the Magna flow's are a little quieter for a comparable 40 series fighter.

Have you ever owned a throaty muffler before?

 

I've always thought they were cool when I heard them on other peoples trucks. Now I bought a truck with it already installed and again thought it was cool. 2 weeks later I can't stand the fricken thing. Drives me nuts. Still like the music thumping, but I must be turning the corner and getting over the hill at 33. Anyways, just thought I'd point that out. Not to change your mind or anything.

should have got the 5.3, you would get better mileage with it.

IMO, you are wasting your time with exhauast but im sure someone on here has a v6 or has had and could help you. Id say no to the 40 though, too free flowing. Maybe something like a Dynomax, i had a friend put one on a 4.3 and it sounded alittle louder than stock. I think he got it delivered to his house thru Jegs for 248

Not sure where you learned that. Flowmaster chambered design is the antithesis of free-flowing. Think 5-year old kid trying to amuse himself by blowing air into the palms of his two hands as hard as he can until his face turns red. That is how the chambered design works (and sounds).

 

Magnaflow and Dynomax, on the other hand, come to mind for free flowing exhausts.
