Adding Homelink / Garage Door Opener

Recommended Posts

So I picked up an overhead console with the extra switches for sunroof, etc (for use at a later time), but I’m installing it now. My question is if my truck didn’t come with Homelink/Lear2U can I utilize that option on the new console? Does the dealer reflash my ECU or anything to turn that on? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

BTW it’s a 2008 Silverado ECRB 5.3 (if it matters)

Sorry this is slightly off topic, but if we are talking homelink projects, it may be better to keep it all together.

Homelink is always powered on. Has anyone looked at changing homelink so that it will only work with the key on or something like the radio where it works until the drivers door is opened. I'm not sure if there is much difference in model years, mine is a 2010.

Can anyone post or pm me a wiring diagram?

Thanks

Doug

I did the same thing as you did and have the same console as you with the sun roof switches. Mine was plug and play and worked right away. For the switches, I took them off and got some fabric that matched the console and covered the hole and put the switch back in. Kind of blends in now and people don't ask me what the switches are for anymore, they think it is another speaker now for onstar. I will let them think that!!!

Just came back from picking up a Homelink console. Came out a whole lot easier than I thought it would. I hope the people that were in the truck survived. I will have pics of the donor truck and my new console later. Woo Hoo!!
