New guy here!

I just purchased a 96 GMC K1500. Truck has 240K miles. Replacement 5.7 motor has about 30K miles. My question is regarding the 4x4 fuse. What exactly does this fuse do? Mine is blown and keeps blowing when shifting to 4-wheel. I have the manual shift and the truck actually seems to shift and engage in to 4-wheel just fine. The indicator light by the shifter doesn’t work though. Is this all the fuse is for? After searching the forum it seems the actuator is an issue but that seems more for trucks that don’t actually engage 4-wheel. I can tell mine is working, especially 4-low. Does anyone have a picture of the actuator? I can see two sets of connectors with two wires near the front axel but I am color blind so not sure what set goes to the actuator.
