Front Passenger Seat Belt Question

My 09 Siverado has the front passenger child restraint system where if you sit in the seat and pull the seat belt out all the way,(or close to it) when you latch it and release it, the passenger cannot lean forward because it locks. What I found in the manual is that you should pull the seat belt out slowly and not all the way, and it works fine.....most of the time.

My wife will be sitting in the seat and we will be driving down the road and she will lean forward to adjust the A/C or heater and when she sits back, the system has locked the seat belt and she now is stuck tight against the seat. She then has to unbuckle the seat belt,(while we are driving) and then pull it out slowly and re-latch it.

It does this so much that it upsets her, and she told me that it is so bad that "if you even fart, the seat belt locks on you".

I can't find in the manual how to turn off the child restraint part or what to do.

Any suggestions.

It usually will only lock when you are speeding up or braking. I've learned that when I am doing either, not to move or it will lock up. Same for the passengers.
