Well it has been just about a yr since my truck has been in the shop.  Next wk i go back to school and i am at 30K miles so i thought id get my squeaky steering wheel looked at.  Also the service advisor suggested awhile back to get the throttle body cleaned.  Heres how it went

Squeaky steering wheel (when making turns)

Remove steering wheel and airbag

Disassemble steering wheel column upper

inspect for rubbing noise

lube steering shaft support bearings and pivot points (about a yr and a half ago i had the steering shaft replaced)

reassemble

Ill be darned but the steering is once again TIGHT.  No looseness whatsoever feels much better cant even believe it feels like a brand new truck again :D

As for th throttle body they replaced it (part #: 17113665)

No cost to me. A total of almost 6 hrs.

Now i just need to get rid of my door rattle and ill be 100% happy again

Is it a different type of TB, or just a new clean one?

Glad to see you're going back to school Ryan.  No more bumming around-back to the grind for you!! J/K :D

A whole new TB???

And only 30k miles, wonder why they would do that.

I cleaned mine at about 50k, and it wasnt even that dirty.

There was a TSB that covered '99 - '00's, #00-06-04-007A, that called for replacing the TB.  Maybe the '01 - '02's were later added to the TSB, I don't know.  It was for Increased Accelerator Pedal Effort.  I had mine replaced under it.  What would happen was It felt like the pedal was sticking slightly when you depressed the gas pedal.  If the Julian Date Code was a certain date or earlier, they would replace it.  Maybe yours fell in that catagory Ryan, and they just replaced the whole thing for you.  :D

I think they later revised that original TSB, which called for replacing only before a certain Julian date (of course mine was not eligible under the first TSB, even though it was sticking badly) to include all '99 and I think '00 vehicles if the sticking problem was diagnosed.

Lubricating mine helped, but it's back now intermittently.

They did list sticky pedal on the invoice.  I checked the list price of the TB and it is like $315  :ooh:
