Hello, I have an 09 GMC Sierrawith a loud turn signal flasher. Is there a quieter flasher I can replace the stock one with. The loud clicking is getting really anoying.

did ya check with the dealer ????? warranty ??? parts dept ?????

its covered Matt

I would not classify it as a "broken" part. The one in my 01 was just as loud. I want something I cannot hear while waiting at a light to make my turn. I'm thinking of something like a solid state? Not a relay type. Just don't know what to replace it with. That's why I'm asking.

There are quieter relays out there...They should be able to look them up at a parts place. They should actually say quiet. Try something from Bosch.

I just don't use my signal lights while waiting to make a turn in the turning lane...I mean, which direction do you think I am going in the left turn lane...I just hit the signal just before I actually make the turn. Lights last longer that way too

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at Grote products and I'll check Bosch as well. I guess I was lucky with my 01. In 8 1/2 years I only needed to replace the tag light. LOL

I don't think the tick-tock sound is created by a mechanical flasher relay. On my 2010 Sierra the sound comes out the radio speakers and is initiated by the ECM. I added the driver information center buttons to my truck and one of the customization features allows you to increase the volume of the chime and tick-tock sound.

Now thats the most retarded thing I have ever heard....Why in the hell would they need to have the radio make the sound that a relay has made for like the lifetime of the indicator light....way to f***ing over complicate things Auto Industry.

Ranks up there with the stupidity of throttle by wire, steering by wire and buying a Toyota.

Hello Nytemare, When I 1st googled the Quiet Flasher Relay. It came up with the info on the turn siganals being Too quiet and people were looking for ways to make the clicking sound louder. LOL Seems when it's too quiet people tend to leave their signals on after the turn. On my 01 if I left it on more than a mile or 2 an electric chime would sound till I turned it off. Oh well. I guess I will look through the DIC tonight and see if that sound can be truned off.

But seriously...through the radio...come on man...thats going a little overboard.

Yep, what Dale K said, the system is electronic not mechanical. Every notice it does nifty things it does when you push the turn signal lever just far enough for it to blink but not latch on for a lane change? If you do it for just a moment and release it will blink 3 times, and 6 times when in tow/haul mode. Try doing that with a relay. And as Dale said, if you have the DIC controls you can change the volume. If you don't have the controls it is a great mod. All the wiring is there you simply need to buy the panel with the switches, I think it is $90

Its super easy with a relay...you just need a timer circuit, with 3 inputs and a couple logic gates.

Yup It's Freakin electronic clicking through the radio. I don't have the click off option in the DIC. It's only the chime button for the signal if I leave it on after a 1/2 mile. Not going to cut the speaker wire. I guess I just have to live with it now.
