Transmission Cooler

I will be doing alot of trailer towing with my Burban and was thinking of upgrading the transmission cooler. The factory one looks a little on the small side. I am sure it may be sufficient but why not go bigger if possible, right. The cooler the better  . Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement cooler that would use the factory connections. I am not so worried about the mounting, just the line fittings. If so, what is the brand and part number. Thanks in advance!

I used the B&M cooler on my Tahoe.

Which B&M did you use? I was thinking of using the 70264 since it is a 2500 with the 8.1l. Do you install in the factory location and use rubber hose to make up the difference?

Thanks

THe B&M 70264 will fit no prob. The lines are very close. The only issue is they have adapter fittings that thread on your factory line and into the cooler on the other end. Makes it real easy. I think the fittings came with the cooler if not mistaken. If not Advance auto sells them not an issue at all.

Is that for your 800 or are the 900's the same. So it bolts up on the factory mount? If you could send or post a picture of yours we would appreciate it. THANKS

Where it bolts on top is fine the bottom you have to make your own mounting point. The lines are very close and you just need the adapters as I said before. I did mine which is the truck pictured in my signature but I also put the same cooler on my dads 2004 3500 8.1L as well

Is the B&M 70264 enough of a cooler? It says it is rated for 24000 GVW which seems more that enough. I have seen several guys recomment the Hayden 679 but I could not find the GVW capacity, but it is larger. I would rather stick with the B&M since it already has the cold weather bypass internally installed which occasionally could be a possibility here in Oh.

i remember like 10 years ago i put a similar type larger cooler on a 1/2 ton pick with a 350, and it was a 20 min project in the driveway with basic hand tools

What is the size of the OEM Aux cooler?

I also read people connecting it in series with the stock cooler, how is that?

Does the kit as listed above include all fittings?
