Truck looks great blacked out, my next truck will a 2011 6.2 with 6 speed black truck Z71 to have the whole front end color matched. I don't like my stock chrome grille.

I have this grillcraft one. It looks awesome from some angles but from others you can see all the brackets and braces behind it. Im actually thinking of changing it because of that.

+1 on the Carriage Works. Did that to my 2008 SD. Looks amazing. Truck is black, and now the entire front is blacked out as well. The main grill is a black billet cut out and replace (that looks great). The lower vallance one is a bolt over. I don't really like how that turned out. I ended up cutting all the silver plastic coin grill off down there so it looks a lot better, but you'll get a lot nice look if you do the full one vs bolt over.

Here's the reason why I bought the grillecraft, which i haven't installed yet, but will soon

He didn't just install it over the stock one. For it to look good you have to take out the stock bracket and cut the upper bar. Here's exactly what he did

Grill story in a nutshell -- Ordered the grill from GrillCraft, just the simple black mesh grill. I fully replaced the OE grill with the new one, I think they ask you to leave the top bar of OE grill when installing but I didnt, I guess I didnt think it would look like it was meant to be that way so I cut them all out using some handy air tools. I bolted the new one in place and added the GMC logo that I debadged from the tailgate to it. To secure the GMC logo I used 2 small, headless bolts and nuts, just secure the bolts on evenly with some JB Weld and attach. The bolts give you the option to move it around or adjust it...as a matter of fact I think I might take the GMC to top right for the month ...also, I DID remove the grill from the truck when I worked on it, I did not leave it and do the work on the truck..this was probably the trickest part of the whole job and it's not too tricky at all!
