Window Switches

Am I the only one who seems to have to take the window switches out for cleaning seemingly every 4-5 months? On my '07 NBS CC I had to remove the drivers door switches for the third time within 45K miles because the rear passenger window would not work from the drivers door. Ironically when I got that fixed the rear passenger door window quit working at the rear door only. Just a simple cleaning of the contacts with a damp Q-tip does the trick, but it's a hassle to remove the door panels, remove the switch assembly, then sit down with them to take them all apart for cleaning. There is always a "greenish" coloring on the gold plated contacts on the circuit board of the switch itself when I open them up. Maybe this is due to the high humidity here in S. GA. AND, of course, the local dealer says that I am the ONLY one who has ever complained of this--Yeah Right! It's been the driver's window, the rear drivers side window, and the rear passenger side window so far. I have talked to other owners of '07 and newer GMC/Chevy's with these same switches and they say they have had problems such as this but did take them in under warranty to get them fixed. I know mechanics at the local GMC and Chevy dealers and they tell me they DO NOT change out the switch, they use the Q-tip method to get the unit out the same day instead of waiting three (3) days for the switch(es). I thinks I smell a RAT! Any comments to be shared? Thanks, David

Try some dielectric grease on the contacts the next time you have to clean one up....just make sure you get rid of the corrosion before you apply the grease....probably made in China!
