Wiring Into Hazard Lights?

Recommended Posts

What and where is the easiest way/location to wire in an extra set of lights into the stock hazard lights circuit for more visibility?

depends on where you want to mount the extra lights. On the rear. I would tap in at the tailights. Or the trailer harness if you have one on the truck.

Most basic way is with a test light. Find the wire that is powered when the flashers are on.

are you looking for simply tapping into the circuit for signal/power or are you going to use a relay of sorts?

Edit: tap the rear light harness - your 2004 should have a junction block located toward the rear bumper on the driver side. look near the frame rail - your spare tire might be in the way of the junction block. It should either be the light blue wiring (left side harness) and/or dark blue wiring (right side harness)

I am actually trying to use a pair of lights in the rear that have their own flasher control box. I need them to activate when the hazard lights are on and I didn't want to install another toggle switch for them.

I will search for the blue write and junction box, thanks!

That setup might be alittle different than I had understood (my fault)...I will try to find the correct one for you...more thank likely, you will tap on the center column and route the lead wire (hot) through the firewall...

That's a great idea. Does the hazard fuse have power on all the time, or only when you turn them on? I might have to go check it out myself.
