Not Enough Power For Start-up?

Good day,

I just bought a pre-ownd 2003 Sierra SLE 2WD Ext. Cab pick up about 3 months ago with 205,000kms on it currently. I noticed when I was looking at it from the private seller, this vehicle had a brand new alternator and battery. Also, this vehicle had an after market alarm system installed that constantly drew too much current from the battery while the vehicle was off, so I had it disconnected and current test done and all was fine. Now I've noticed over the last 3-4 days the truck is slowly getting harder to turn over. Today, I turned the truck over and luckily she fired up. I noticed two things, one my time on the dash bored indicated a different time, like the battery was dead and also it wasn't bright outside yet my auto headlamps were on, normally the day time running lamps come on when I put the truck into gear.

Does anyone have and speculation on this by chance, I really appreciate your time?

I do think perhaps the sellor may have had electrical issues perhaps which is why he sold it in the first place. Other than this, the truck has been solid and reliable. Also note, I just did a long trip last weekend 1500kms and I noticed then a bit of a weakness while starting up.

Thanks a lot,

Well I noticed a slower start over about 2 weeks, then one day coming home from work, I saw my battery came on and when I got home I shut it off and checked the voltage and it was about 12, and then I started it and it was still at 12, so it wasn't charging, so after a quick trip to napa and $150 later, it was all fixed up

OK guys, thank you very much for your posts, I do appreciate it! I think the battery may have been worn out already.

Thank you!
