2010 Denali Look Front End Conversion

Recommended Posts

I really like the look of the new sierra Denali, From looking at things the parts needed seem pretty obvious, but I'm not sure if I need a new air deflector to get the lower grill?

I'm showing the sierra denali grill part number as 25825522.

What is it for the painted front bumper (and do they come primered or are these trucks new enough to get them factory painted in summit white?)

and the lower bumper valence?

Is this all I need? What about my tow hooks? I haven't gotten a good look at the sierra denali in person to tell if it has these or not.

Thanks guys. If there are others interested in this maybe we can put a list of things needed together on here. (if this already exists lemme know but I did search!)

I have done this conversion as you can see from my sig pic. I used a slotted chrome bumper, though. I'm sure MS3DALE (Rich) can get you the part number for the ready to paint bumper. If you want the lower grill, you need the Denali-specific lower deflector as it has a flat area to accommodate the center section and slots for the mounting tabs on the grill. Your original tow hooks will work just fine as the SD's have them, too. Here are the part numbers:

Denali Upper Grille 25825522

Denali Lower Grille 15901589

Denali Lower Deflector 15901527

Let me know if you have any specific questions...

Oh yeah, if you buy the new bumper cover, be sure to spend a few extra bucks and get the new mounting brackets for the upper bumper facia. I reused my old ones which required drilling out the factory rivets and re-riveting the old brackets to the new bumper. After all the hassle and for all the new brackets cost, it's a no-brainer to get new ones...IMO. Also, the factory uses very large rivets to attach these brackets, but in hindsight, I'd consider using short, button-head bolts instead.

rivets huh? That seems like a bad design.

Thanks for the tip though.

so, no pre-painted bumper? I wonder what a body shop would charge to match the bumper. I would imagine the paintable bumper is a good bit cheaper than a chrome one since it's easier to make.

got a part number for the brackets? (or a pic of how they work? I've only had this truck for a day )

This is something I want to do. Can you use the stock 08 lower bumper and use the denali lower grille? I also would like purchase a painted bumper.

I don't have the part number, but Rich can get it for you. Here is a picture of my truck during the tear-down phase...you can see the four brackets (two rivets each) attached to the top edge of the bumper cover that engage mounting tabs on the upper bumper facia:

If you mean the plastic portion of the bumper with the fog light housings, then no. You need the Denali-specific piece (called the lower deflector by GM) in order to utilize the Denali grill.

For those of you wondering about the prices of the part numbers listed..

each piece seems to be around $300.

So you're looking at about $800-900 excluding a painted bumper.

The good thing is we can buy 1 piece at a time if we don't wanna spend that much at once.

And there's always ebay..

Kilo...i wasn't clear with my question..lol sorry. Can I use the stock chrome bumper with the lower grille deflector??

Yeah, the grills are the same whether they're chrome or painted.

^^ Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have pictures of this done?

My conversion uses the stock chrome bumper...You can see my sig pic, plus several more pics in my garage:

    • I don't think so. 😏 Cars? Our experience will diverge there as well. I was buying cars with 200K (1970's) when I started and quite a few were pretty solid cars. (My early stuff was 1964 to 1968)  Some stinkers but not the dismal picture painted above. Now that said, yes, a dealer wouldn't talk to you if your car had more than 60K on the clock and lot cars were 60K or less except the back row where 100-120K was the auction bought for dirt for us poor losers. Kids in my county were not allowed to wear long pants if they couldn't rebuild and repair every part of that beast.    I will agree that many parts are now better. Alternators and charging systems are an envy. But I replaced few water pumps or power steering pumps then. Rebuilt carburetors but replaced few. Mufflers are another place of OEM improvement. Stainless? We didn't have no stink'n stainless.    As long as humans are in charge of governance this $$$$ situation will not improve.    The purchasing power of a dollar in 1955 is significantly higher than in 2025, meaning that a dollar could buy more goods and services in 1955 compared to 2025 due to inflation over the years. • Have a question concerning trim levels. Ive not bought a new vehicle since 2006, and I have decided on a 2500 gmc pro or silverado custom. For anyone that has one of these 2 trim levels have you regretted not stepping up to the LT or SLE. I look at things as the more electronics the more problems to arise. I love the look of the old school gauges on the dash as well. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
