Bluetooth Steering Wheel Switch Replacement

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am installing a new Bluetooth VCIM in my 2007 Yukon. I want to replace/swap out the existing steering wheel switches/buttons and replace them with the new switches/buttons that have the start and end a call marked on them. The GM part number for the new switches/buttons is 25851951. How does one do this?

Thanks

Every post I've read on here said that you have to swap the entire wheel. Try a search on the forum and maybe there is another answer I have missed.

NO.

If you already have steering wheel controls, you only need to swap the switch pod itself. Just pull the air bag, remove the silver (or black) trim piece next to it, and the rest becomes pretty obvious in terms of how to make the swap.

John.....Charlie is right, it's not that hard because I actually did it myself on my 2007 Yukon Denali.

Just be very careful around the airbag.....you have to disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes (I think 20, might be less) to ensure the airbag sensors are powered down.

There was a post on exactly how to do this mod on this forum or one of the other GM sites, I will look for you to see if I can find it.

It shows pictures of each stage and exactly what the steps are.
