What Should Someone Expect To Pay For A New 2009 Silverado

What would be the expected selling price of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Short Box 2-Wheel Drive LTZ truck. The sticker price is 40,800

This truck has the 5.3 Flex Fuel, and Z71 appearance package.

I'm not real thrilled about Z71 packages on a 2-Wheel Drive truck, but I don't think my boss minds at all, and he is the buying the new one. It will probably be a cash sale.

I know there is 5,000 on 2010's now, so how much should we expect the dealer to come off the price? I was thinking somewhere around 28,000 cash would be a place to start on the 2009 model, but I may be way off. I know I could probably get a 2010 with a msrp of 40,800 for 32,000 or maybe a bit less right now.

What do you guys think?

I think I'd be leery of buying a 2009 model truck that's been sitting on the lot for presumably at least a year, that's what I think.

I would probably agree with you if I were buying it myself LOL. The dealers initial offer came in at 31,795. There is a nice 2010 LT 5.3 Crew Cab 4-Wheel Drive sitting there with MSRP of 38,000 with an additional 2495 added for a set of GM accessory 20 inch wheels, which look to be the real chrome plated wheels instead of chrome-wrapped wheels. I would have him trying to buy that one, but it looks better than mine... :) Actually, it doesn't have the one option he wants, which is leather seats.

We'll see how the dealer wants to negotiate. Once he has the price, he will offer to trade his truck in, but will probably just pay cash and sell his truck. It is a 2003 Silverado 2500HD, 6.0 Crew Cab 2wd with every possible option on it, and 112,000 miles. The paint is perfect, but the body mouldings are fading (not sure what the color is called, but it is the metallic tan looking truck, sort of like the greystone)

That's a pretty high sticker. Mine stickered for $41,000 and it's 4 wheel drive. The only things I don't have are nav,sun roof, sliding rear window and heated washer fluid.

I tried looking for the window sticker, but it said the VIN was invalid, or may have been sold.

Can someone look up this truck and tell me if anything appears strange?

We are also looking at a 2010 LTZ Crew Cab 4-wheel drive from another dealer. They want 33K for a truck that stickers for 41K. That seems like a decent deal, but I would think that 5000 rebates, and buying at invoice should be lower than that... I will not pay more than 100.00 over invoice. The dealer makes his 3% factory holdback, and I am OK with that.

WHOA! That truck IS quite old.... as in, a year and a half old!

Build Date: 2009-01-16

Be REALLY careful with that one; and make damn sure to do a thorough test drive and get it inspected to make sure lot rot hasn't affected anything major.

Also, carfax shows 3 records on the report for that VIN (don't have an account currently to see what they are exactly).

I found an '07 that had been sitting for about the same amount of time when I bought my '08. Had 20 miles on it, was sitting on the showroom floor (indoors), and when I popped the hood there were spider webs all over everything. I turned and ran.

Got a VIN from that one? Might be able to look up the equipment and determine what invoice price on it is.

Thanks for the info on the 2009. I think unless he can buy it for 4 or 5K less than what he can buy the 2010 (equivalent truck) for, then it doesn't make sense to consider it. It is a great looking truck, so I have to wonder why it is still sitting. Another thing that bothered me about it is that the window sticker is laying on the dash instead of attached to the glass.

The other 2010 we are looking at is 3GCRKSE36AG277149 (I just realized that this one is not an LTZ) I haven't seen it personally, but we have bought 8 or 10 vehicles from this salesman for our company.

I am going to visit a few lots today, and make sure he is getting what he wants. We have 10 dealers within an hour drive, so a little looking online, and then a few visits and maybe I can steer him to what he wants. He really likes my truck, so maybe I should tell him I will trade him if he buys me a 2010 Crew Cab LTZ 4wd with a 6.2 :D

Looks like the invoice on that 2010 is roughly $38,901 -- meaning after the $5000 rebates you should be at $33,901. From what you said, that's pretty close to what they gave you as an offer.

I'd try to negotiate them down to $33,000 even, but past that I think it's probably the best you'll be able to get.

My wife has a 2004 Buick that set on the lot for a year. It is loaded, even has navigation. It has 103,000 miles and has had no issues. It is one of her better vehicles.

the sticker on my 09 in 2009 was around 38, i paid just over 29. You are buying a truck that is a year old new or not. Its not your fault that they didnt sell it, id say if you cant get it into the mid upper 20's, buy a 2010!
