I feel your pain. Mine will be leaving this Saturday. It's not easy to see them leave home especially after a 20 year relationship like I've had with mine. :)  :D  :D

I have been waiting to order a 2003. I was set to buy a 2002 HD 6.0 last year, but when I heard Quadrasteer was going to be reality in 2003, I waited.

Finally, my dealer got pricing info on August the 12th. He went to put an order in and it did not go thru the first time. I don't understand how it all works.  Apparently he was offered Yukons or Denalis, like 8 one week, but no extended cab 4x4's. He sells mostly ext cab 1500's.  So, I don't know exactly why it worked out like that.  This is a small dealer and it may boil down to those with more allocations get their orders filled first, but I don't know that.  Maybe the Quadrasteer was not being produced during that week. I don't know.

I knew the order went in last Friday and put my truck up for sale on Monday morning. By noon, I had a cash offer for what I was asking, no "dealing" or hassle. I could not see turning down cash, so I sold it.

After keeping the truck in the garage, avoiding hail (which is somewhat a common occurrence in TX), washing, waxing, maintaining and taking care of the truck, it was hard to sell it and know the next owner probably won't do the same. It has 285/75-16 tires, and he was going to the tire dealer to install 35's--I don't think they will fit without a lift or cutting--which I think it is not worth it for 1.5" of more GC. The person who bought it is a friend and it is for his son. They say his mudding days are over, and he'll have to use his ATV for that. But, installing a larger mud tire tells me that is probably not the case.  I had no cuts, burns, stains on the seats, a NAPA Gold lifetime guaranteed alternator, new A/C compressor, new water tank for the radiator, rebuilt tranny that shifts better than when new, new power brake booster, new Interstate battery, no scratches in the paint, no chips in the windshield, towing package, etc., etc. The only reason I had to sell it was I wanted the new options like QS and XM radio, etc.

I would rather buy something, take care of it and not trash it. Paying for something twice is not smart. I have done that before and learned that lesson the hard way.

I just don't think anyone who buys something that you have worked hard to take care of can understand the effort and sacrifices that went into that process. The other thing is I am going from a known quantity to an unknown. My truck was a 1997, but it never failed to start. It was dependable. That dependability and my great dealer support are of the utmost importance to me. Function is more important to me than esthetics, but I think I am getting both in what I ordered.

Sorry for the long post. But, I think the enthusiasts on this site can understand the time, the effort, the expense, the care and the difficulty in parting with something that is used on a daily basis and has been such a great product.

Maybe you should go get your truck back...I know how I feel about mine, and I think if I thought for a second the guy's kid was going to go mudding in my rig, he could take a hike! :)

Yes, a GMC 1500 4x4 ext cab, white/neutral, with the either hated/loved Quadrasteer.   This is a rather small city and this is the only one the dealer has ordered. To him, he is unsure how many will be willing to pay for the option.  I was ready to buy an HD last year, but waited for this option. We'll see how it pans out.
