Changingdifferential Fluids

Recommended Posts

My truck has 100,000 miles on it and it is time to change the differential fluids. The GM fluid is expensive. Is Amsoil just as good? My truck is a 2003 Silverado 1500 5.3L 4WD with the G80. What are the capacities for the front and rear diffs and does anybody have the part numbers of the new seals?

Is there anything else that I need besides a pump?

Edit: Can a mod please change the title to "Changing Differential Fluids"

Don't forget your transfer case. Capacity depends on your ring gear size for the rear diff. 2 for the front. At least 3 for the rear. You can put the 75-90 in both ends, I believe. Black02Silverado will chime in soon. He's the expert on lubrication.
