Location Of Factory Amp?

Where is the factory amp located in my 2001 silverado extended cab?

Does it have Bose? If so, it's under the center console. If you don't have Bose then I don't think you have an amp.

No the truck doesn't have Bose, but there's got to be an amp somewhere to power the stereo setup,right?

The factory "amp" for non-bose radios is integrated into the head unit. This is similar to aftermarket car stereos.

Depending on your trim, if memory serves me right...it could potentially be behind your glovebox. Similar to the Tahoes/Yukons of that year range.

 

If you swap your head unit out, take notice to see if there in a pink wire in the smaller harness of the two (if you even have two, not all do). If you do have the pink wire, that needs to be connected to your blue/white remote turn on wire off the new head unit you're installing.
