Bose Stereo

I am looking to change out my factory head unit with an aftermarket one, but I have the Bose system in the truck. How hard is it to put in a new head unit while retaining the bose speakers and amp? Is it even possible?

Everything I've ever read said that it's possible, but not easy or cost effective. Something about each individual speaker being driven very specifically by the very specific amp, and that the amp's signal wouldn't play nice with other speakers without some fancy wiring and more than a few trips to Radio Shack.

Bose is shit anyway...In my opinion. And ^^^ that is only one of the reasons why I think so.

It's possible, but you'll need a special wire harness that integrates the factory Bose. Usually runs $100+ from retailers like best buy. Thankfully you do not have to change the factory speakers if you do not want to, but it still doesn't sound all that great.

Ya that is what I was afraid of. I like the way the factory stuff works, but I wanted the get a different head unit as I wanted to put in a touchscreen with possible Nav. and to add to the complexity, I have the rear radio controls as well. So it looks like I might be stuck with the factory stuff if I want to keep all the controls. Thanks

Yeah, I have yet to see anyone who keeps the rear audio controls when they change the radio out. They do however make a steering wheel control module to retain those when you change the stereo. (part is $100 from retailers like best buy or crutchfield)

Yeah...I know who it was. I just thought it was kind of funny.

And while the language filters don't apply to me (what I type doesn't get filtered), that's not a filtered word on this forum.
