06 Sierra Front Hub Assembly

Hi All:

I have a question related to some past service on my truck (GMC Dealer)...One year ago, I had an ABS code set related to a bad hub assembly. When I got a call from the dealer, they said that the passenger hub assembly was bad and was replaced under warranty (the invoice where they list the part number stated the right assembly, but the tech notes indicated the left assembly was replaced).

Today the truck is in the dealer's shop and the passenger hub has crapped in the bed. Now that I am beyond my factory warranty and this is not the one replaced a year ago; this replacement cost is on my dime. My claim is that it was the right assembly that was replaced the last time, not the left.

The Question:

Is there anyway that it can be verified which hub was replaced one year ago? Would the ABS code identify Left vs. Right? If I could prove that the replacement hub went bad again, it is on GM's wallet.

The ABS code should indicate which side is bad,HOWEVER...Even if it is the same side that was replaced before under warranty,UNLESS your truck is still under the factory 3/36 warranty,it would not be covered under warranty again,Parts that are replaced under the factory 3/36 warranty are only covered for the remainder of the warranty.

In other words if they replaced it under factory warranty when the truck was 30 months old,and had 30,000 miles on it,it would only covered for the remaning 6 months/6,000 miles of the factory warranty, after that your on your own.

In a way this sucks. If the repair was done under warranty at 35,999 miles, the part would be warranted for a whopping 1 mile!!!!! If you paid for the repair (out of warranty) the part would be covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, I think.

They should really give you at least 30 days or 1,000 miles on a new part, no matter what.
