K&n Cai Installed

so i just installed my k&n CAI... went for a test drive and the service stabilitrac is on... hmmm. got back opended the hood DUH!!!! i didnt plug the MAF in did that and the stabilitrac is back to normal but now the check engine light is on. dont know what the code is yet i dont have a code reader any sugestions??

When you had the maf unplugged the check engine light doesn't come on until the next key cycle, even if it's plugged up on the next cycle. Take to an autoparts place like autozone or similiar and tell them to reset your ses codes.

You can always try unplugging the battery and touching the leads together, but I don't think that works on obd-II vehicles. Try it and tell me if it works, I'd be surprised if it did.

got it. didnt touch them together just unplugged the POS terminal (because its the easiest one to get to) for about 5min

Yeah, I was going to suggest disconnecting the battery. Glad you got it figured out.

Well, I'll never take advice from someone who says you can't reset an obd-II computer by battery disconnect anymore. I seldom learn something new, but I just did!

In most newer computer systems, fault codes are stored in a "nonvolatile" memory that is not lost if the battery is disconnected. The trouble codes remain intact until they are cleared using a scan tool.

I cleaned my MAF and throttle body the other day, and did it in a rush because the temps here are well above 100. Forgot to reconnect the throttle-body harness and had a CEL come on when I turned the truck on. Turned it back off and on and it was still there, so I disconnected the battery and left it like that for a few hours. Re-connected it and turned on the truck with no CEL light anymore, worked like a charm!

It may not be showing but can it be accessed by a scanner???

 

There is a difference between clearing and erasing.

Hmmmm. Well i guess i really dont know. The lights off so im happy. If theres a problem the light would come on again rite?????
