Looking For New Idler And Pitman Arms

ok, my idler and pitman arms are wearing out and i need new ones and i have a few questions.

 

 

1. from what i hear moog is the way to go, except according to summit racing they dont make a pitman arm for my truck?

2. i know this may be a stupid question, but how many of them are there? one of each?

 

3. is ~100 for each arm, per summit, a reasonable price?

 

4. difference between greasable and non-greasable idler arms? is there such a thing as a non-greasable arm? which ones better? this one is greasable: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOG-K6535/

7. may or may not be able to answer this, but can i request that a certain brand be ordered at the dealer? i dont see why not, but i thought id ask (theyre closed now or id call them).

www.rockauto.com probably has better prices than summit plus if you google a bit you can usually find a 5% discount code for them.

thanks for that, yeah the prices seem cheaper, but apparantly theres a 3 groove spline or 4 groove spline idler arm?

You should be able to take the nut off of the steering box shaft and be able to tell how many splines your current pitman arm has. If it has 4 I'd check out this deal for sure. It looks like he's listing Moog part numbers but I would contact him and make sure before purchasing.

Oh I know what you mean and that's why feedback ratings are important.....for that price I'd get over the nervousness real fast though. Let me know what you find regarding the pitman and the number of splines.....one of these days I'll have to change the one on my 02 as well.

well to answer 7, the dealer can order anything i ask them too. so i think im going to go that route. i tell them what/where to order from and have them install it. i dont have the tools to do it myself and i need a vehicle- my truck is the only vehicle we have and we cant not have one. so we'll see how it goes.

If you can track down the part numbers (I don't have 'em), I've got a Moog Idler arm and pittman arm for a '92 K1500 Blazer just sitting on a shelf. Brand new...Just 10 years old
