Oil Additives Lucas Synthetic

Well I was at the shop today getting an oil change and i mentioned to my mechanic that my 2000 silverado has about 20-30 sec of piston slap upon start up so he suggested putting Lucas Oil Stabilizer it. I run mobile 1 5w-30 and i have 1 liter of lucas synthetic oil additive in the truck. However when i got home today i did a quick search on the oil additive and it is seems to be all negative results. Should I go and get it changed to regular mobil one tomorrow or just wait till next oil change. Will it damage my engine or am i fine, I am unsure because my mechanic swears by it.

No it'll be fine. Basically all that additive does is thicken the oil.

So i guess Ill be fine then..Thanks

Thicker oil will usually quiet lifters and ticks that the engine has. But, if it was winter, and you lived in a cold environment, I'd recommend you change it. Next time, instead of using that stuff, just use a little bit thicker oil like a 10w-40.

Well, since you edited the post. I DO NOT like or recommend any kind of OIL additive. The oil itself will do the job with more than enough efficiency. Now, I do believe in MMO in the gas and maybe some seafoam in the intake. And I do believe in Lucas trans-fix as it fixed my trans which was too high on fluid and the fluid would foam up causing it not to shift properly. Poured it in and my trans is still going! So, I do believe that that stuff thickened the fluid thus stopping the foaming.

Ive used it in my old 88 Pickup and the gf's Grand Prix and I like the stuff. Seems to quiet the engine down a good bit. The gf's Grand Prix has a good bit of rod knock since she bought it and since I put Lucas in its a little quieter. Don't know if it does anything performance wise but engine noise wise it helps.
